Hotel Transylvania Movie Date & Fun Fall Family Outings: MOM Approved!

Hotel Transylvania Movie Logo

Now that our son is 3-years-old, I have been slowly introducing him to the wonderful world of in-theatre movies! He shocked us after his behavior at our first attempt was simply marvelous. I was amazed to see how quiet and respectful my little boy was throughout the entire movie! He did shout out a few things from excitement, but that was expected and quite normal. Now that I know how well-behaved my son is at the theatre, I have been making plans to go to as many movies as we can, especially on rainy days!

My son is ALSO in the middle of a costume and personality change phase. One second he may be dressed up as his favorite superhero, but that won’t last too long! Give him another 10-minutes and you’ll be talking with a monster that "lives at the playground". He is always creating new monsters and characters, which I love to watch and hear all about how creative he is feeling at the moment. I cannot believe the personalities he is able to come up with inside of his vivid and young imagination!

Now that summer has finally come to an end, I am starting to think about all of the activities we can do in the cooler months here in New York City. I’ve been dreaming of apple and pumpkin picking, taking a drive upstate to check out the Fall foliage, and we will definitely be squeezing in as many movies as we can on the chilly and rainy days in our future!

Fall Activities Crafts

There are a lot of fall crafts and DIY projects that we will be completing together. Last Fall, I had a LOT of fun with my son as we created trees out of construction paper, used leaves from the trees outside as they fell from their branches, and so many other art projects we were able to put together. I can’t wait to do it all again this season!

This Hotel Transylvania movie is opening up in theaters everywhere on September 28th, which just so happens to fall on a Friday! Since my husband works overnights, I will likely schedule a movie date with my son to check out this movie on opening night. Yes, I am THAT excited – and so is my little man! We have watched the trailer together (over and over), which always results in my son laughing hysterically as he begs, "..again! again!" (I told you we were watching the trailer over and over!).

This animated feature is a hysterical children’s film featuring a great group that we have grown to love from the cast of Saturday Night Live: Adam Sandler, Jon Lovitz, Molly Shannon, David Spade, and Andy Samberg! Hotel Transylvania is actually a unique animated film as the voices were recorded in sync and at the same time! Animation films normally have the audio and voices recorded individually by each actor, but this particular film recorded with the entire cast together!

Why is this special, or make a difference for the viewing experience? There is a greater flow of emotion and comedy within this film than any other scripted film that is recorded inside of individual booths. Just imagine this cast in a room together adding in their own comedic license pieces as they go along! If those walls could talk! I can’t imagine how much fun the cast had recording this movie!

Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, was created when he needed a place to keep his daughter safe. He created the hotel as a place for all monsters and their families to live freely and be who they wanted to be without humans around to bother them all the time! During one particularly special weekend, Dracula invites some of the world’s most infamous monsters – Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more – to celebrate his daughter Mavis’ 118th birthday.

Hotel Transylvania Movie Dracula

This should be a ‘normal’ weekend for Dracula and his crew safely inside of Hotel Transylvania, but everything seemingly crashes down around him as a human stumbles upon the hotel and take a liking for his daughter, Mavis! Dracula built this protective atmosphere for his daughter, as most dads do, but this is a unique situation since he’s also included ALL of his monster friends!  This film takes us through Dracula’s dealings with the human guest, a sparkling love between Mavis and THE HUMAN, and a look at how dad (Dracula) deals with his daughter growing up.. and falling in love!

Mom Approved?

Absolutely! I thought that I was a little too excited myself for a children’s animated film, but I am a kid at heart! This film is adorable, fun, and action-packed! After previewing the trailer, I found absolutely nothing frightening about it that would keep my little man away from the theater. It is always very important for mom and dad to decide if their child is at an appropriate age for a movie, but I think you will feel the exact same way as I do after checking out the trailer!

We just saw the trailer for this recently and it looks adorable. My daughter is still a little young to sit through a movie at the theater so we will probably have to wait for it to come out on DVD but either way it will be a great family night event.

  9. This looks like a great way to show kids that not all monsters are terrible. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
