I am pretty sure that Autumn is my favorite season, especially here in New York City. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the others, but there is something special about the cooling down and removal of NYC humidty (whew!), changing of the leaves, and pumpkin picking with my family! Plus, I always seem to find a lot of great Fall activities for kids that never grows old for our family!

The air is crisper, and the leaves are suddenly changing into bright and beautiful shades of red, yellow, and orange. The sun is setting much earlier in the day and we’re talking about Halloween costumes. It must be Fall! 

There are so many fun things to do this time of year with your family. I always try to jam pack our Autumns with a lot of family activities before winter rolls in and we start camping out in the house to hibernate from the cold snowy nights. I’ve complied a list of 50 Fall activities for you to enjoy with your kids! These are simple, affordable, frugal friendly ideas that will create lifelong memories for you and your children! So, get your camera ready because you are about to have one action-packed Autumn!


  1. Go apple picking at a local orchard.
  2. Bake an apple pie, apple sauce, or any other yummy recipe with the apples you just picked!
  3. Rake leaves, make a huge pile, and jump right in!
  4. Host a clambake.
  5. Go bike riding, either around the block or on a bike trail.
  6. Watch a fall night sky.

  8. Go on a fall picnic.
  9. Go on a hay ride.
  10. Roast marshmallows over a bonfire.
  11. ** Make yummy s’mores recipes with your roasted marshmallows.
  12. Play a neighborhood game of touch football.

  14. Enjoy a mini tailgating party before the football game!
  15. Plant  fall flower bulbs that will bloom next spring: tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, etc.
  16. Attend a fall festival.
  17. Make donuts with the family!
  18. Organize a chili cook-off with friends and family!
  19. Host a weenie roast over an open fire.
  20. Go through a corn maze — and get lost!
  21. Eat candy corn!
  22. Iron colorful leaves between two sheets of waxed paper. Display on fridge.
  23. Make a fall wreath.
  24. Go raspberry picking.
  25. Make a treat with your raspberries [pie, mousse, jam, etc.]
  26. Start your holiday shopping.

  47. Clear out the shed and get rid of any summer supplies that went unused this year.
  48. Drink hot apple cider.
  49. Do a fall craft.
  50. Harvest your garden.
  51. Create a gingerbread house for Halloween (Haunted House!)

  53. Buy fall vegetables at a farm stand.
