My name is Nicole Napolitano and I am a full-time professional parenting blogger and work-at-home mom of two adorable and vivacious children (boy - 6 & girl - 2.5). I decided to develop MamaNYC in 2010 shortly (1-month) after transitioning from work-a-holic Internet marketing pro to the shoes of a stay-at-home mom (bored!). As a dedicated business manager for over 9-years, I was determined and positive that I would once again be a successful business woman -- whether or not I had a diaper bag tagging along! I am a New York City native, but relocated with my husband and our two kids to sunny Los Angeles in the summer of 2014. Leaving everything behind was scary, but it's time to make new memories. My interests include web design, Internet marketing, product development and research, SEO, movies, friends, and spending time with my family.

  1. I guess the 2 children’s vision holidays go with Getting ready for Kindergarten, but why have National Truancy Prevention in the month when most schools are closed?- unless it’s for the very beginning of school when most truancies don’t occur?

  2. I’ll be celebrating National Thrift Shop Day: 17, National Mustard Day: 4 (First Saturday)National Mustard Day: 4 (First Saturday), Happiness Happens Day: 8 and Happiness Happens Month.

    Don’t worry, be happy!

  3. Yum I guess I will have to make cupcakes on national cupcake day and make smores on national toasted marshmallow day! I never would have guess that august had that many holidays. =)

  4. Some of these are pretty tame, but then there are the bizarre ones. I wonder what goes into making something a national “day” lol.

  5. Thanks for sharing this. I run a postcard swap group and every month I try my best to observe some of the weird and off holidays we have. This was a great helper in thinking of swap ideas. Thanks so much again 🙂

  6. We have one more entering Kindergarten this year, only two more left (seven have already entered before them). The funny thing … our youngest will be entering school the same year our two oldest will be on their senior year in high school.
