There is nothing quite like cuddling up with your little one’s and watching them smile and sing along with a fun, educational, and engaging DVD. We recently received a copy of The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection DVD, which features ALL of my childhood favorites that I am so happy to pass on to my son!
We spent most of today outdoors enjoying the summer weather, which was actually a heatwave here in New York City! My son ran around in the sprinklers for well over an hour, enjoyed the sandbox at our local playground, and next up was grandma and grandpa’s house – what a day! We were at my parents home for well over 3-hours in the hot sun for some pooltime fun! My son was WIPED out from all the fun, excitement, and especially the heat!

Once we finally wound up back at our home, I wanted to find something that would help my son wind down and relax after our HOT Wednesday in the sun. The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection DVD was the first idea that came to mind. It would help my son relax, but still keep him interested and entertained long enough for me to catch my breath. After all, I needed to wind down {a lot} myself. It is not easy chasing a 3-year-old around all day for anyone; never mind that I am 2-months pregnant!
My son was immediately intrigued and the DVD caught his attention within seconds. Have you ever seen a toddler go from hyper and excited to TV tunnel vision within seconds? It is amazing and a parents dream.
We keep our sons television usage to a minimum, so I always try to keep it educational and fun whenever he is propped up in front of our TV. I love watching him sing along to all of the nursery rhymes that I loved as a child – and what a smile he had on his face!

My son LOVED watching and singing along to each of the nursery rhymes featured, which he did for the entire duration of the DVD! He became so relaxed and comfortable that he actually fell asleep 20-minutes after the DVD ended! I was so relieved to have a few moments to myself and happy that he enjoyed watching my favorite childhood nursery rhymes.

Guess what he wanted to watch after he woke up?!

The price is very affordable and as you have described it’s perfect as a gift to a child of three or four years (and to give his mother a few moments of peace!).
Can you believe my niece and nephew don’t know any nursery rhymes? By their age (around 5), I could recite the basics, many of the ones you have listed in this post. I’ll have to look foe this DVD for them, as neither one enjoys having anything read to them. Aye, what is the world coming to? Thanks for your review.
My son LOVES nursery rhymes. We would enjoy this DVD.
Thanks for sharing!
I love things like this- it is something both you and the kids can sing along to, and it brings back memories for parents. There are even a couple in there I haven’t heard of (Oranges and Lemons) so I am curious how it goes
It’s great to have a collection of your own childhood favorites on a DVD to share with little ones. It makes you appreciate them even more
Wow, reading through the list of Nursery Rhymes really takes me wayyyyy back. My children are now 28, 25 and 11…yes 11.
I used to sing just about all of those to my boys and they loved it! I’m no Barbra Streisand but I think I did okay…I even remember some of those rhymes from when my mother sang them to me.
It is really amazing how long some of them have been around and how many mothers have sung them over and over again. I actually used to have a CD with a few on it but nothing as extensive as the songs listed above. My children may be too old for them but I do have a lovely little granddaughter that I get to sing them to. Thanks for the info, I think I might look into this DVD for her.
These “classic” nursery rhymes remind me of how simple and laid-back we had it during our childhood.
Most children nowadays have never even heard of these “classics” due to the economy being so rough that both parents have to work and then come home too tired (and then make dinner & tend to their household chores) to read to their children at night.
