NYC Easter Egg Hunt: New York Easter Egg Hunts & Fun For Kids 2012!

 

Easter In New York City

Easter is only a VERY few short days away, but hopefully some of my fellow New Yorkers will get out and enjoy some of these Easter Egg Hunts and fun with the family! There are plenty of FREE NYC Easter egg hunt events this weekend. Some of these events impose a fee, so read carefully and choose wisely. Decide which one will suit your holiday weekend plans and family!

Here is a list of some Easter Egg hunts in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island!


Manhattan

Easter Activities at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan  – Upper West Side

  • Sunday, April 8th
  • 10:00 AM –  4:00 PM
  • 212 West 83rd Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway
  • Free w/ museum admission: $11
    • The tot spot offers a trio of holiday activities. Preschoolers can create Easter collages while school-age kids learn how to decorate actual eggs. CMOM also hosts a twist on the usual egg hunt: Visitors search for half a dozen paper eggs that are hidden throughout the museum. Once located, kids can redeem their completed hunt sheets for Easter prizes.

Easter Egg Hunt  – West Village

  • Sunday, April 8th
  • 10:15am
  • Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson Street near Christopher Street
  • FREE
    • Right after services let out, families can join in a festive egg hunt that’s open to the public.

Easter Fun Fest  – Financial District 

  • Sunday, April 8th
  • 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM 
  • Trinity Church; Wall Street, Broadway at Wall Street
  • FREE
    • Children 6 and under can hunt for candy-filled plastic eggs in the historic church’s south yard while bigger kids hit the north yard for a more challenging scavenger hunt. Families can also make bonnets, pose for a pic with the Easter Bunny or groove to live music from the Bari Koral Band.  Trinity Wall Street celebrates Easter with scavenger and egg hunts, a puppet parade, a visit from the Easter Bunny, plus lots of other family fun!

 Queens

Easter Egg Hunt – Corona

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 9:00 AM – NOON
  • USTA National Tennis Center (Flushing Meadows-Corona Park)
  • Before March 30: $15; after March 30: $20
    • At this sporty Easter fete, kids can do arts and crafts, hunt for eggs, meet the Big Bunny and participate in a tennis clinic. There will also be a family Easter basket competition, and lots of prizes throughout the morning, including a chance to win one week of summer camp!

Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Long Island City

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 10:00 AM – NOON
  • Gantry Plaza State Park, 4-09 47th Road
  • FREE
  • The Skyline City Church is throwing its annual spring fete with age-specific egg hunts, live music, games and photo ops with the Easter Bunny.

Barnyard Easter Egg Hunt  – Glen Oaks

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 12:00 PM - noon-4pm
  • Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway
    $5
    A full afternoon of Easter fun. Kids can search for eggs in the apple orchard, or try their hand at egg tossing or egg rolling on the lawn. Whiskers the bunny will be hopping around, greeting children. Families can also do the Bunny Hop, visit with the animals and go for a hayride.

11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Jamaica

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • St. Albans Memorial Park, Merrick Boulevard and 173rd Place
  • FREE
    • The largest egg hunt in New York City; Sponsored by Affinity Health Plans. Lots of live music, celebrity appearances, rides, arts and crafts, and free dental screenings.

Spring Eggstravaganza  – Corona

  • Saturday, April 7th & Sunday, April 8th
  • 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Queens Zoo, 53-51 111th St in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
  • Free with admission: $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 3-12
    • In addition to a traditional egg hunt, kids can get up close and personal with live giant Flemish hares Ruby, Flip and Olivia, as well as the Easter Bunny. Arts and crafts and other springtime fun round out the day.

Forest Hills Ascension Presbyterian Church’s Easterfest  – Forest Hills

  • Sunday, April 8th
  • 12:30 – 2:00 PM
  • 2 Russell Place near Ascan Avenue
  • $5
    • The church’s annual holiday celebration includes a screening of the VeggieTales Easter Carol, live music, kids’ games, crafts, refreshments and a traditional Easter egg hunt. Families that attend church services and kids’ Sunday school are admitted for free.

Easter at Bohemian Hall  – Astoria

  • Sunday, April 8th
  • 1:00 PM –  (?)
  • Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden, 29-19 24th Avenue between 29th and 31st Streets
  • FREE admission…  but food purchase required
    • Spend Easter Sunday at the family-friendly beer garden enjoying an egg hunt, face time with the Easter Bunny and live polka music. 

Brooklyn

Brooklyn Heights Spring Egg Hunt  – Brooklyn Heights 

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 10:00 AM
  • Pierrepont Playground, Columbia Heights and Pierrepont Streets
  • FREE
    • Candy, face painting, balloons and an egg hunt are all part of this annual neighborhood fete. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the playground committee! Every spring, hundreds of little bunnies and their families turn out to participate in this annual Egg Hunt at Pierrepont Playground. Candy, treats, balloons and good friends have made this a holiday tradition for many families!
    • Rain date: Sunday, April 8.

Easter Egg Hunt  – Gowanus

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 8:30 AM
  • Brooklyn Boulders, 575 Degraw Street near Third Street
  • $6 (if paid in advance); $10.00 (at door)
    • Hunt through the nooks and crannies of the Brooklyn Boulders rock climbing gym for eggs filled with pennies that are redeemable on site for candy! 

Staten Island

Easter Egg Hunt  – Staten Island

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 11:00 AM
  • Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Avenue near St. Patrick’s Place
  • $5 for adults, $10 for children
    • Bring a cardboard egg carton for the kids to transform into a fancy Victorian-styled craft. Afterward, hunt for eggs and meet the Easter Bunny. Best for ages 3 and up. Prepaid reservations required. Call 718-351-1611 ext. 281.

Egg Hunt  – Staten Island

  • Thursday, April 12th
  • 4:00-5:00 PM
  • South Beach Library, 21-25 Robin Road near Ocean Avenue
  • FREE
    • At this pre-Easter event, kids can win prizes for eggs collected.

Bronx

Egg Hunt  – the Bronx

  • Saturday, April 7th
  • 2:00 – 4:00 PM
  • Belmont Library and Enrico Fermi Cultural Center, 610 East 186th Street between Hughes and Arthur Avenues
  • FREE
    • Kids can hunt for surprise-filled eggs throughout the children’s room of the library.

    When I was young we used to go to Washington Heights to my aunt and uncle. They would hide eggs/candy in the park for us to find

    This list makes me homesick for being in NYC. There is always so much going on. I want to go to the art museum’s hunt.
