PMD Microderm: Personal Microdermabrasion Review – At Home Facial!

PMD Personal Microdermabrasion Review

PMD Personal Microdermabrasion ReviewI have heard a lot about the PMD Microderm, but I wasn’t sure if it would work effectively and as promised. So, I had to give it a shot when this personal microdermabrasion review fell into my Inbox! My mom has been talking about getting one for a while, so I was reporting back to her with my findings. She was anxious (and a few dozen coworkers as well!). I was so excited when it finally arrived (and my mom was relieved since her daughter would finally have a final verdict to hand over!).

What will the PMD help improve? Fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne, skin discolorations, and other imperfections. Promotes and improves your face and body towards a smooth, even-toned skin! Facials cost anywhere from $150-300 each session (at least here in New York and most of the tristate area!). The PMD Microdermabrasion costs $179, which is well worth it considering what a monthly facial costs!

The PMD personal microdermabrasion is very simple to use and the results have been fantastic! I have been using my PMD for about 2 weeks and the results are very dramatic and obvious. My skin needed a pick-me-up after a long and stressful winter. I have seen and read PMD reviews all over the Internet and in the news, so I had a lot of faith in this product! I knew the results were going to be fantastic!

Using my PMD microderm is very easy. Simply place your selected disc onto the motor shaft and push gently to attach. The disc comes off just as easily with a quick and effortless pull. Screw cap into place with a 1/4 inch turn and seal tightly. Connect the cord to your PMD unit and plug it in! Note that you MUST use a cap! I did not realize this and noticed it wasn’t working properly or effectively. Once I discovered this (in the INSTRUCTIONS.. hello!), I realized that the cap was VERY necessary in order to create a suction with your skin and the disc.

Each PMD comes with five different discs. There are two different sizes: small discs are useful for tight spots (like your nose or other areas that won’t allow suction); large discs are for all other places on your body! The two different colors also serve different purposes. The blue PMD disc is light to the touch, but the green can be used for a medium and much more coarse exfoliation. It is recommended to begin with the fine grit blue disc!

There are a few things that I learned while using my PMD Microdermabrasion tool over the past 2+ weeks:

  • WATCH the instructional DVD! They aren’t suggesting this to make you crazy; I wish I watched the video before my first treatment. I learned a LOT about using the PMD once I finally watch this video. It will only take a few minutes, but well worth the knowledge and tips you will gain!
  • Do not forget to use the cap! This is a main ingredient when it comes to an effective PMD treatment. You want to actually create a suction between the cap and your skin. Results will not become apparent until you put that cap into place!
  • Don’t sit in one place! Move around your face and do not focus on one spot. I focused on a problem area during the first treatment and it only made matters worse. I decided to lay off the trouble spots for the first 3 treatments. Once my skin had adjusted, I began focusing on trouble spots. You shouldn’t spend TOO much time on those spots, but a little more focus on those areas is okay.
  • Stretch that skin! You will read more about this inside of your instructions pamphlet and on the DVD, but I would recommend also taking a look at the PMD tutorials posted on their {Youtube) reviews page. For best results: Pull your skin and stretch so it is tight and the disc can make contact. Keep the unit moving constantly over your skin!
  • Increase Pressure (over TIME!): Don’t RUSH it! You will regret it. Gradually increase the pressure with each treatment. Don’t go too hard during the first few treatments; use light pressure during the first 3 or 5 treatments until you become skilled and comfortable with applying aggressive pressure.

PMD Personal Microderm ReviewOne of the most common complaints about the PMD comes from users that seem to have not read the instructions or watched the DVD. Thereafter, I see their opinions change once they discover it was the wrong way to use their PMD. You should see some redness and blotchiness to your face, but too much means you are going about it all wrong! Go back to the instructions, watch a PMD tutorial, and make sure you are doing it right.

As with any treatment or exfoliation, followup in between treatments will make a dramatic difference. Dont expect your PMD to transform your skin with a treatment 1x per week. You will need to take care of that pretty face (and body!) every day. Follow up with a great toner and/or moisturizer to ensure cell renewal! PMD recommends a treatment toner to help neutralize the pH balance of your skin. Here’s a useful skin regimin as suggested by PMD:

  • Apply a treatment toner. This will neutralize the pH balance of the skin and prepare it for the recovery moisturizer.
  • Wait 5 minutes.
  • Apply a recovery moisturizer or cell renewal serum.
  • Apply sunscreen daily since the skin will be extra sensitive to sun exposure.
  • Cosmetics may be applied after the treatment.

The Treatment

Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive form of exfoliation and mild skin resurfacing that removes the dead skin cells from the Stratum Corneum, the outer most lay of the skin. The Stratum Corneum is the layer of the skin affected by fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, acne, and scaring. The concentrated microdermabrasion treatment exfoliates this skin layer to break apart these common imperfections. This then triggers the body’s healing mechanisms, causing the removed dead skin cells to be rapidly replaced with healthy, new ones.

The Benefits

Microdermabrasion provides several important benefits for the skin. The treatment smoothes away dull and rough skin texture, and it softens fine lines, wrinkles, burn scars, and acne scars. The treatment also improves the skin’s tone by fading uneven pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, and skin blemishes. In addition, microdermabrasion, which combines the power of a vacuum suction with exfoliation, reduces the formation of acne. The vacuum achieves this by clearing out clogged pores and releasing trapped dirt and oil. This leaves skin more clear, vibrant, and beautiful.

The benefits of microdermabrasion cause skin to become rejuvenated, while promoting new collagen growth and cell renewal. Also, since the dead skin cells on the Stratum Corneum act as a barrier for the skin, once they are removed through microdermabrasion, skin care products will be more fully absorbed into the skin, maximizing their effectiveness. All these microdermabrasion benefits combine to uncover youthful and radiant skin.

Disclosure Policy MamaNYC Review

My name is Nicole Napolitano and I am a full-time professional parenting blogger and work-at-home mom of two adorable and vivacious children (boy - 6 & girl - 2.5). I decided to develop MamaNYC in 2010 shortly (1-month) after transitioning from work-a-holic Internet marketing pro to the shoes of a stay-at-home mom (bored!). As a dedicated business manager for over 9-years, I was determined and positive that I would once again be a successful business woman -- whether or not I had a diaper bag tagging along! I am a New York City native, but relocated with my husband and our two kids to sunny Los Angeles in the summer of 2014. Leaving everything behind was scary, but it's time to make new memories. My interests include web design, Internet marketing, product development and research, SEO, movies, friends, and spending time with my family.
